Swordfish Swim Team

*All swimmers must be CCBA members*

Swim Class Descriptions

Guppies – ages 6 months to 3 years
Guppies learn water awareness, basic swimming skills and swimmer safety. Parents are the key to fun and must participate in the water.

Goldfish – ages 3 and 4 years
Goldfish learn water awareness, basic swimming skills; swimming on front and back, breath control, entering/exiting the water with and without support, and swimmer safety.

Beginner 1 – ages 5 years and older
Beginner 1 covers water awareness, basic swimming skills; floating and swimming on front and back with and without support, breath control, entering/exiting water with and without support, and swimmer safety.

Beginner 2 – must have passed Beginner 1
Beginner 2 covers underwater swimming, beginner strokes on front and back without support, orientation to deep water (jumping, kneeling dives), and swimmer safety.

Beginner 3 – must have passed Beginner 2
Beginner 3 covers rhythmic breathing, complete front and back crawl strokes, introduction to elementary backstroke, deep water bobbing, introduction to compact dives, and swimmer safety.

Beginner 4 –- must have passed Beginner 3
Beginner 4 covers elementary backstroke, treading water, underwater swimming, and swimmer safety.

Swimmer
Swimmer covers breaststroke, sidestroke, treading water with different kicks, long-shallow dives, beginner progression from diving board and swimmer safety

Advanced Swimmer
Advanced Swimmer covers diving approach and hurdle, tuck jump from diving board, turns and swimmer safety.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons

Reduce your fear of the water or fine tune your swimming technique. Call the Aquatics Department to set up appointment at 448-6477.
Private:
Member $25 per 1/2 hour
Non-member $40 per 1/2 hour
Semi-Private
Member $15 each per 1/2 hour
Non-member $23 each per 1/2 hour


Swordfish Swim Team
Senior Swordfish – 12 years & up
This team consists of returning competitive swimmers who have qualifying times. All team members are members of United States Swimming and are strongly encouraged to attend all swim meets.

Junior Swordfish – 11 & under
The Junior team is a developmental program for swimmers who are refining their strokes and able to do 100 IM which consists of 1 lap.

Prerequisite: Participants must be able to swim continuously 25 yards of backstroke, free style and have some accomplished skills in the breaststroke and butterfly. Youth, ages 6 – 18

Lifeguard Training

Become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard. Participants learn the modern techniques of Lifeguarding. Successful participants will become certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid and Lifeguard training. Course includes safety training, exposure control, and water balance and surveillance techniques. Fee includes Lifeguard text and pocket mask.

Please Note: During the first class, candidates must successfully complete the following prerequisites:

* Swim 500 yds. continuously using front crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke.
* Dive to depth of 7 feet and retrieve a 10 lb. weight.
* Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

Candidates not able to complete the prerequisites will receive a refund.

Lifeguard Re-certification

This course is being offered for lifeguards nearing the end of their certification. This course will include all current American Red Cross updates. Participants must possess current CPR/FPR and Lifeguarding Today cards to attend class.
